At the beginning of each school year, it is incredibly important that we take the time to build positive relationships with each of our students. In elementary school, we also have a responsibility to support children in their reading development. Learning what children like to read and what strategies they already use, along with what parts of reading may be hard are extremely important that will help them grow as readers. Taking the time the have children set goals is a best practice that helps students take ownership over their learning.
