* This 30 page packet was designed to use with first graders to review their beginning (short) sounds for OG (which is the phonics curriculum used at my school) at the start of the school year, but it’s more suitable for kindergarten.
* The first page is a diagnostic that can be done right at the start of the school year. (two to a page to save trees * As you read the list of sounds the students will write the sounds they hear. This will be a very good indication of where they are with their basic sounds.
* Each page has a keyword, decide on what your keyword is for each sound, have them write the word and draw a picture. Then they go on to write 6 more words with the same beginning sound. Make sure they aren’t just writing the same first letter!
*The rest of the worksheets we did together or they divided into groups/pairs and worked on it for morning work.
*However you decide to use it, morning, group or homework, I hope you enjoy it, it has been a very good resource for us.
