This PDF contains pages which are meant to be used as a Rainbow behavior chart with clothespins. Once laminated, this will work as a behavior tool in your classroom that is much more versatile and positive than the typical "stop light" or "card flip" system because the students can work to achieve good recognition, as well as self-monitor their negative behavior.
Use one clothespin to represent each child. Everyday, clip the clothespins so the students begin in the green "Ready to Learn" area. Then, based upon their choices and behavior, they can move up or down the chart. Upon reaching the top of the chart, "Role Model", students can earn a special prize (like a coupon reward from the teacher, a no homework pass, or a good note/phone call home).
If a student is making poor choices, they have opportunities to take a break, and if the choice(s) continue, the teacher can determine a consequence when the student reaches "Teacher's Choice". Finally, at the lower end of the clip chart, students may reach "Family/Principal Contact".
The rainbow is inverted because so many times, the color red has a negative stigma around it. Instead, the red "Role Model" is displayed at the top of the chart, and that is what the students are aiming for. The rainbow gradient design of each page is simple, yet effective, and also makes it easy to read.
