Using red/yellow chips you can design a non-verbal system to help students struggling to maintain good behavior in your class. Students get to "start over" each class period to try and keep their positive chips (yellow). They total the number of yellow chips remaining after each subject area and at the end of the day their teacher will determine their daily average grade. At the end of the week if they maintained an A or B average they can select a reward from the "Reward Chart". This is a great way to motivate students that feel like their day goes downhill if they don't start out on a positive note. They can get a "do-over" during each subject. It also allows the teacher to give non-verbal reminders to students that aren't following the classroom rules. She/he can simply walk by the student and flip a chip. This cuts down on frequent interruptions to instruction.
