So many times, I have sent behavior monitoring sheets out with students only to have them returned blank or partially filled out. That sort of monitoring makes it impossible for me to keep up with monitoring the students goals and objectives.
The best way I have found to monitor behavior goals is to make monitoring easy for teachers, students and parents.
If the student follows classroom expectations at 75% or greater then the student has a line drawn from one X to the next X. If the student meets the goals based upon teacher observations then the student receives a line drawn. If the student does not meet the 75% goal expectation then the student is simply told that they can get a line drawn if they do their best in the next class.
No negative responses, no red marks or Xs. The student either gets the line or doesn't. At the end of the class, lesson, or day the student receives the reward that they had previously chosen.
