A behavior contract is a document that describes in writing the relationship between completed behaviors or tasks of one or two parties and the delivery or access to a predetermined reinforcer or
reward to the person(s) for the occurrence or nonoccurrence of the behaviors or tasks. Behavior contracts have a long established history of increasing a myriad of academic performance-related
behaviors across many age groups Welch and Holborn (1988) also demonstrated that caregivers, if given good procedures, could implement behavior contracts and experience good outcomes (increase in home related behaviors) for adolescents.
