Wanting to get solid behavioral feedback data but having a hard time efficiently tracking the information? Here's a simple, practical answer. This one-page file has 8 cards - one for each hour in the school day. The student receives all 8 cards at the beginning of the day. A target behavior is identified. When the student exhibits the behavior, regular classroom praise/feedback occurs. When the child doesn't exhibit the behavior, the student must relinquish the smiley for that hour to the teacher. At the end of the day, student and teacher are able to tally the hours within the day during which the target behavior was witnessed, and those hours in which other behaviors occurred instead. Progress can be charted in a weekly chart or excel sheet. Target behaviors can be adjusted as needed. This system can also work for several targeted behaviors provided there is a separate set of smiley's for each behavior. I currently use this with two behaviors for one student. The smiley's look different and that's how the student and I know which smiley is for which behavior. Enjoy!
