This behavior chart allows for instant feedback on behavior for students with behavior concerns. It is also a behavior intervention which provides great data collection. I put the behavior chart on a clipboard I attach to a hook on the student's desk. The student is aware of the expectations that need to be met in order to get happy faces. They also need to be aware of their goal (how many happy faces they need in order to earn their reward). Throughout the day record when students are following the expectations or not following expectations by circling the happy and sad faces. When they reach their goal they earn the reward that you have discussed with them. To increase impact, I also have a Day In Review sheet that I record how their day went and send it home with comments and the requirement of a parent signature. Since it is an intervention, I record their data weekly to analyze and use in conferences with support staff/parents.
