The most effective method of classroom management for me is positive narration combined with a raffle. After clearly explaining procedures and expectations, I use raffle tickets printed on colored paper to reward students who are doing what they need to. I wear the tickets in a clip on my lanyard so I am reminded to use them.
I hand out approximately 10 - 15 per class period.
Students write their names on the line and place tickets into bell jars on their way out of class. Each Wednesday I draw one name from each jar and offer a prize (snacks, sodas, cheap sunglasses, etc)
