This is my BEST-SELLING product! Thanks for purchasing!
Struggling with managing your classroom or dealing with bad attitudes from your elementary students? Wondering how you can help students see how their behavior affects those around them?
This puzzle piece activity explains the concept of working together behaviorally. I created this activity for use with my first grade ESOL small groups, but I have provided ideas to work with Kindergarten, first, second, third, fourth, and fifth grades, as well as in small group and whole class environments. The activity could be modified for all levels.
The basic concept is that when everyone does his or her part as a member of the team, all the pieces are in the right place and a picture is seen in the puzzle. When even one person does not do his or her part (by having a bad attitude or making an inappropriate behavior choice), the puzzle no longer works together. We can make our class puzzle and keep it together by making choices that affect others positively.
This activity takes between 20-30 minutes. Using the included suggestions for follow up conversation and writing activities could extend the lesson as long as 50 minutes.
This downloadable product is a PDF file which includes:
- Table of Contents
- Sample positive behaviors and attitudes for both lower (K-2) and upper levels (3-5)
- Narrative for instruction including a variation on the activity
- Follow up conversation and/or writing prompts
- Reproducible puzzle pieces that fit together
- Optional positive reinforcement reward tickets in the shape of puzzle pieces with encouraging sentences on each
- Credits/special thanks page.
