Here is a sheet that you can use when your student's have any kind of emotional or behavioral event in the classroom. After everything is done, if you think they need to talk about it or could have handled it in a better way, you can give them this sheet.
I use it for my Emotional Support students. When something happens where they have to leave the classroom due to behavioral reasons, before they come back in, we fill out this sheet together.
I really like it because it helps them analyze their feelings and gives them practice expressing their feelings with words rather than actions. There is also a spot on the bottom that asks them: How can we solve this? I take this opportunity to discuss with them what they could have done next time or how this could have been handled in an appropriate way.
I give the students the option of filling it out alone or with me writing and them speaking, but i always discuss it with them once it is finished before they come back to class.
These are great to keep on hand to remind students of things that were discussed if this happens again and to provide insight to behavioral triggers.
This is how i use it in my room, but you could adjust it to fit your needs! Enjoy!
