I was having problems with students not focusing - they weren't necessarily trying to be disrespectful, but asking what the cafeteria was serving for lunch in the middle of my guided reading group, staring at the ceiling, or trying to make goofy faces across the room... those were becoming a problem. So I created the F.R.O.G. tickets - Focus, Respect others, On task, Give your best effort.
Students get two tickets each morning. If they are seen not following one of the ticket guidelines, they lose a ticket. After both tickets are lost, they get a conduct marks. At the end of the day, students who kept both tickets all day get to spend a little time observing my classroom pet frogs! This works really well to help me keep up with giving warnings, and it is a motivator for the kids because they hate handing those tickets over and feel very cautious about correcting their behavior when they just have one left!
