No matter how great your class, there will be at least one bad decision made that will force you to respond. Positive behavioral management is great- but what about when nothing seems to work and one student *really* needs to be removed from the rest to prevent further disruption?
We know that using academic work as punishment is a terrible idea- it can lower motivation and turns something like reading or math into a punishment! ACK! So how do you remove a student, without punishing them with academic stuff, all the while not wasting instructional time with them?
Behavioral reflection sheets can be a great tool to get students thinking about their actions, stop the immediate disruption, and maintain a positive behavioral system!
Younger students may need help filling out this form, but older students will be able to complete independently.
