Start by reading a book with a Halloween theme. I suggest:
Ghost in the House, by Ammi-Joan Paquette
Room on the Broom, by Julia Donaldson
Click, Clack, Boo! by Doreen Cronin
Next have students decide what is going to be behind their door. This is a great time to include a lesson on elaborative detail or “juicy” describing words.
Students will draw what is behind the door and write to describe it.
Finally, attach a door template to the front by stapling it along the edge. Students can decorate the door to make it as spooky as they would like!
