My name is Sophia Akhiyat, and I am a medical student at the George Washington University. I am passionate about dermatology and community outreach, especially through education. I created this module along with Samra Adeni, an elementary school teacher who works through Teach For America. I gave this lecture to 3rd graders and received excellent feedback from the children. We thought this may be a useful, 30-minute module for other teachers who would like to spend time on a health-related topic. We hope this can be of great use to you in the classroom!
This lecture discusses the basic biology of skin and suggests ways we can keep our skin healthy. It also emphasizes the importance of healthy eating habits and recommends a model dinner plate for balanced nutrition.
