Start your class off with some engaging, creative and thought-provoking bell ringer writing prompts! These FULL YEAR writing prompts are a great way to establish a journal or writing routine in your classroom. Each page includes a section for teacher evaluation/comments, and each day of the week has a different topic/theme. It is expected that the quality of writing for the different levels will vary, but the prompts are comprehensible for all of the outlined grades.
Students will hone their creative writing skills with these no-prep bell ringer writing prompts and get daily writing practice with these thought-provoking themes:
• About Me Monday
• Story Time Tuesday
• Words of Wisdom Wednesday
• Thinking Thursday
• Newsflash Friday
:one prompt for each day has been added as an additional choice, and/or for extra credit assignments when students complete their designated task (for a total of 25 prompts each month).
There are three different ways to create/present the journal. You can either give the students the individual prompts daily, bind the entire booklet, or double-side copy and staple the booklet for the month. If you happen to have the capability of transferring PDF documents to Word files, you can also have your students complete the journal electronically.
How else can these prompts be used?
In addition to, or instead of using these prompts as a way to get your classes started, these prompts are also a great HOMEWORK
activity! Just print off the individual pages and use it as a separate writing assessment.
