Someone asked if I would consider selling the Bell Ringers individually so they could customize their year. So, here you go! Each Bell Ringer from Volume 1 and 2 is now available individually so you can get just what you need. Choir and Music Class ‘Do Nows’, ‘Bell Ringers’, ‘Daily Board Work’
– call them what you want but these beginning of class activities will keep your students busy. Pick and choose which ones you want to use.
These will allow you time to take attendance, check in with students, etc. at the beginning of class and provide a routine for the students. There are 9 PowerPoints available (169 days’ worth!). At 15 cents a day

Students will be able to hear some more great choral music (an example is given or you can use your own) and write a response to the question. Higher level thinking skills are put to work as they pull from their own personal experience and opinions. (20 slides)

Listening and Questions #1
Each slide includes a higher level thinking question and a possible listening sample to go with the question. Feel free to exchange the suggested song for one you want your students to hear. My groups have sung several of these songs. It’s a great way to hear some new music. Your choice as to if you want students to copy the question and whether they answer in complete sentences. Whatever fits your routine will work with these. The point is to get your students listening and thinking critically. (20 slides)
Music Symbol Drawing Challenge
Your students are going to have so much fun with this challenge of using different music symbols to create pictures! Let their imaginations go wild! These are great Friday activities. It’s a little lighter than a question or rhythm, but still gets them thinking! (17 slides)
Quotes and Questions
Have your students read and reflect on each musical quote. They probably won’t be familiar with them and so each higher level question will require them to ponder what the musician meant. Be sure to tell the students your expectations for their answers, whether it is complete sentences, if they have to write down the quote/question, etc. Either way your students will be thinking critically. Thesaurus Titles of Songs
These are going to have your students’ brains busting as they try to figure out the title! Each hit title has been re-written using synonyms. Feel free to let them listen to the song at some point during class or as they leave. A little bit of history there. (22 slides)
Rhythms #1 include Rhythm Fill Ins where students copy a rhythm and complete each measure with a note or rest. They start basic and get harder as you go through. You will also find Measure Mistakes. With these a rhythm pattern is given and students need to find the mistakes! (15 slides)
Remember your college days and clapping and counting rhythms? Everyone has to start somewhere. These rhythms use whole, half, quarter, eighth, sixteenth notes and rests. I have my students copy them on their Daily Board Work paper and write in the counting underneath. Then we go over them together. (20 slides)
Scrambled Italian Terms
Who doesn’t like a good word scramble? These terms are ones your students will probably be familiar with. It can be a great way to keep them in their minds and to point out in your music. Separated into similar words together, the first letter of the word is capitalized to help them get going. Don’t worry, the answers are on the slide after the scramble! Think About it Questions
Here are some thinkers for your students about being a performer and singing. They will allow students to put themselves in a performers shoes and think about the famous people they look up to. Or, maybe why being up on stage isn’t for them. Be sure to let your students know up front what you expect in their response. (20 slides)
