Description

I created this second set of 26 Bell Ringers with stunning photos and engaging prompts after getting such good feedback about the first set - both from teachers like you but also from my own students. I'm so happy that they have been so well received and that they have encouraged students to write more than they usually do.

Just like the first set, these Bell Ringers have been designed with prompts that are teen focused that coordinate with colorful, unique photos. Also, these bell ringers can be used in ANY classroom: English, Phys. Ed, Art, Science, AG, Math, FCS, Social Studies or any other subject area.

The responses students write will spark one-on-one, small group, and full class discussions, depending upon your goals for your students and what standards you are aiming for. To assist with that, I’ve included a copy of my blog post: "7 Techniques for Building a Classroom Community with Bell Ringers.” These Bell Ringers can also help students to practice their writing skills and you certainly can use them anytime during a class period, not just as the bell is ringing. There are many uses for many classrooms!

Great News! This resource may be posted on all secured online student learning environments, such as Google Classroom™, Google Drive™, Schoology™, Canvas™, Moodle™, etc.

What’s Included:

• 26 PowerPoint slides, each with a coordinated photograph and prompt—5 weeks of prompts and one extra!

• "Techniques for Building a Classroom Community with Bell Ringers" — A copy of a post from my teaching blog

⭐These Bell Ringer slides

• require NO PREP! Just select the prompt you want to use, display it, and GO!

• can be used for any time length you choose, from 5 minutes to 15 minutes, or longer if desired. (For quick 5-minute responses, I ask my students to write just one sentence - maybe two if they have to, but no more than that.)

• may be displayed or printed out to create a Bell Ringer Response Journal.

• can be used year after year (or semester after semester!)

• support CCSS Speaking and Listening Standards 9-10.1 and 11-12.1 (Participate in various types of discussions with various partners for a variety of purposes.)

• support CCSS Writing Standards 9-10.10 and 11-12.10 (Write routinely for a variety of lengths, and purposes, and audiences.)

Great for substitutes! If you are a substitute teacher, download the slides to your tablet (or even a cell phone with a large screen), select the slide(s) you'd like to use, read the prompt to the students, and then show them the slide directly from your device. No projector required! Use as bell ringers or--better yet--when students finish early or have "nothing to do." Either way, they will surely make your day as a substitute teacher much easier.
