This file is a zip file and includes weeks 1-20 plus 5 quizzes that can be used at the end of every 4 weeks.
Core Ten is a bellwork program that can be used daily practice of common core standards. The problems are based on the common core. Students complete two problems per day or 10 per week. I have chosen ten standards to focus on and students work on two problems each day at the beginning of class.
Each week problem #1 will focus on 7.NS.1, #2 will focus on 7.G.4, #3 will focus on 7.NS.2, #4 will focus on 7.RP.1, #5 will focus on 7.EE.4, #6 will focus on 7.RP.2, #7 will focus on 7.SP.5, #8 will focus on 7.G.6, #9 will focus on 7.EE.1, and #10 will focus on 7.G.5.
Weeks 1-4 have very similar problems and students are quizzed at the end of the 4th week. Then weeks 5-8 are similar problems and again students are quizzed at the end of week 8. This continues with the same standard every 4 weeks however the problems change and continue to become more challenging.
The quizzes are a great way for students to see improvement over time.
I start the year with these and usually have to guide the students through the problems for a few weeks. Once the year gets going students work on the problems at the beginning of class on their own, then we go over them together. It is a great way to introduce topics. For example student will have done Area and Circumference of a Circle before we even get to that unit. So once it is time to teach the unit - they have already been exposed to problems. It is also a great way to review and incorporate spiral learning in your classroom. I hope you find these useful in your classroom!
