This is a worksheet that I created to introduce my students to a new bellwork. Each day when my students enter the room, there is a new quote on the board along with a prompt. They read the quote, copy it down, and then respond. I love this bellwork for a number of reasons: it allows my students to be exposed to authors and works that we (unfortunately) do not have time to read, it is excellent handwriting practice (and my freshmen NEED it!), and it allows us to discuss ideas, people, and works that may fall outside of our textbook. Each bellwork time ends with a mini-discussion where students share their responses. This allows us to get to know each other better and build connections. We do this every day in my class, but the assignment is designed to be flexible and adaptable.
