Introduce little learners to the beautiful country of Haiti by making a paper doll and mini-book about Haiti. Meet "Guayabel Boy" Daniel. Have students color, cut out and dress "Daniel" in the traditional men's clothes of Haiti: the "guayabel". Have students color, cut out and staple together a mini-book about Haiti.
The guayabera or shirt jacket is a summer shirt worn by men in the Caribbean. It is known by different names in different countries. Known in Haiti as the "guayabel", it is the traditional men's clothes that may be worn for dances, weddings or at other formal occasions. Guayaberas typically have two vertical rows of closely sewn pleats running the length of the front and back of the shirt. They can be made of linen, silk or cotton. They are worn outside of the trousers and are appropriate for warm weather settings.
Four versions of the book included, in color and in black and white, to choose from: picture only pages, one-word caption pages, two-word sentence pages, complete sentence pages. Select one-sided printing. Printing on card stock paper recommended. Two different bookmarks with facts about Haiti provided: one with the flag, one with a map.
