This is a school vocabulary unit. Great to start the school year with. After reading the story, your students will become familiar with school vocabulary. This lesson is full of fun activities for you and your students.
The story is about Ben, a young wolf, who is on his way to the first day of school. The story follows Ben and his friends as they go about their school day.
Before reading the story about Ben and his friends, familiarize the children with key verbs and nouns by using Total Physical Response (TPR) technique. Act out the words from vocabulary list with gestures and movement.
After learning the necessary vocabulary assign roles to students and have them act it our as you tell the story. Retail the story several times. Ensure you change the story each time you tell it. Finally read the actual story together as a class. then have students read the story to each other. Once they are finished they should fill our the Cloze activity and answer the questions provided. There are also game activities, coloring page, and crafts they can do to reinforce the school theme.
