Benchmark Advance First Grade DON’T GET SLIMED! Spelling Pocket Chart Game
Your students are sure to have fun with this cute little pocket chart game!
Set-up: Print (cardstock works best), laminate (optional), and cut the cards. The teacher places the word cards in a pocket chart and secretly hides the slime picture card behind one of the word cards.
How to Play: Players take turns. Player 1 chooses a word in the pocket chart and reads (or spells) it. If the word is read/spelled correctly, the player looks behind the word to see if he/she has been slimed. (If the word is read/spelled incorrectly, his/her turn is over.) The game continues with the next player until the slime card is found. The player who gets slimed, loses the game! Play again and have fun!
I have also included directions for partners and teams, as well as a SUPERHERO game to use with the game cards. Extra cards are included so you can hide more than one card if you’d like.
All cards have colorful clipart.
Please note: This resource was a special request from a teacher in California. Her district adopted the First Grade Benchmark Advance Curriculum in 2017. The spelling words in this resource are based on that curriculum.
