Board game with 2 versions depending on ability level
-Cards 1-12 are all open ended and most require students to justify their answers with sentences
-Cards 13-20 are multiple choice
-Allow students who need a little more assistance the fraction strip resource page to help visualize and answer the questions
-Answer key and recording sheet provided
-Print, preferably in color, cut, laminate and shuffle cards
-Students will sort the fraction cards under the headings “closer to 0, closer to 1/2, closer to ¾ and closer to 1”
-These can be used a variety of ways: display them all and match them independently or with a partner as a game or at a center, use for fast finishers, or as an informal assessment of this skill as well
-Scaffold for students who need extra assistance by printing the fraction bar sheet for them to use as a tool
-Answer key is provided as well as a recording sheet!
-Print, preferably in color, laminate or put in sheet protectors
-Students can use small game pieces or simply use an expo to move along the number line (Each student uses their own number line on the game board)
-Grab a paper clip and pencil to use as a spinner and let the fun begin!
-There are two versions of the game: A does not require students to estimate fractions to ¾ while version B does
-This can be used at a center, a fun review throughout the year or for fast finishers during the unit. Also, as an informal assessment of the skill
-Scaffold for students who need extra assistance by printing the fraction bar sheet for them to use as a tool during the game
All parts of the activity pack are aligned to Texas supporting standard 4.3F (use benchmark fractions to evaluate sums and differences of fractions)
