Benjamin Franklin, His Life and Times is an informational reading and writing unit for upper elementary students. It can be equally utilized in an ELA class or a Social Studies class.
Each of the four biographical passages can be used alone (but in sequence): they could be assigned as the teacher wishes: in class over 1-4 days, as homework, as independent projects, etc. Each text has a page of questions (inference, factual, and opinion) as well as a page of vocabulary and grammar work. Three of the four passages also have a short creative writing assignment.
The four passages are: Part 1: Young Ben Franklin; Part 2: Ben Franklin as a Young Man; Part 3: Benjamin Franklin the Inventor; and Part 4: Benjamin Franklin the Statesman.
This resource includes a full answer key for all the vocabulary work and objective questions.
