Ben Franklin, writing, inventor, inventions, Next Generation Science Standard, lightning rod, bifocals, Franklin stove. Next Generation Science Standard: Engineering Design introduction focuses on three inventions of Benjamin Franklin and includes Informative Writing. Using “Somebody, Wanted, But, So, Then” phrases, students will identify the problems people had and the inventions that Ben Franklin created to solve them. Writing will focus on the creative inventor and three of his inventions while adding details as to how each helped people. Write the Room posters and pocket chart vocabulary cards are included for a reference. An additional writing paper is included if you choose to do additional research for a biography.
