This literature guide for Beowulf is for the Burton Raffel translation. This is important because there are different words and lines that are in this translation as well as a significant amount of framework story that is not in this translation.

Honestly, I enjoy this translation SO MUCH MORE!! It is easier for the students to follow and understand and they do not get as bogged down in the fragment stories that are included in the other translations.

Ok- this literature guide is full of higher level thinking questions, quote analysis, theme analysis, fun activities, background information about the plot, setting, and characters, and prompts for the Final Essay assignment. I had a fun time going through this story again and coming up with questions that require students to read the text closely and get to know the characters and the reasons behind the choices in the text.

*There is not an answer key for this product. I created the unit and had to move onto my next unit before I could go through and answer the questions. I am working on one though. If a person downloads this and answers the questions and emails them back to me, I will give them the next two products from my store for free!!*
