Beowulf Review Game
This 40-slide review for Beowulf (based on the Burton Raffel translation) is in a fun Jeopardy-style game format and can be displayed from a projector, using a SMARTBoard, or viewed online via Google Apps for Education (Google Slides). Compatible with PCs, Macs, iPads and tablets, and even smart phones.
The review game features six categories, 35 questions, and covers topics such as character identification, figurative language and poetic devices identification, qualities of an epic, literary elements, and details of the major events. (See the preview for additional information.)
Uses the BURTON RAFFEL TRANSLATION, from the following parts:
• The Wrath of Grendel
• The Coming of Beowulf
• The Battle with Grendel
• The Monster's Lair
• The Battle with Grendel's Mother
• The Last Battle
• The Spoils
• The Farewell
I included three files in the zipped download: .PPT, .PPTX, and .PDF, so it is viewable from any device! The Powerpoint files can be edited. Any of the files may be shared with your students via Google Classroom and/or Edmodo.
The questions are tailored for struggling and/or average students (this is NOT a review for AP or honors students). The questions are mostly comprehension, identification, and recall, with just a few deeper-level analysis questions.
Works well with my BEOWULF FINAL EXAM.
Appropriate for grades 9-12.
