Product Description
The following rubric/assignment is by no means extensive. It was created more as a tool or gauge to help provide the teacher with an adequate picture of their current students' writing ability. That said, this assessment should be assigned early on in the year, preferably within your first unit.

Furthermore, the prompt is overly simplistic; it only allows the student two options in terms of argumentation. The reason for this is to ensure that the students are first proficient in the following areas:
1. Structure and Organization, that is the ability to implement a clear thesis statement following the introduction as well accompanying topic sentences that clearly tie back to the thesis.
2.Stylistic use of evidence with appropriate citations from the text.
Note: these are just a few suggestions, there are no doubt many more.
I truly believe the student must first be able to clearly communicate simply ideas before moving on to more complex prompts.

If your medium is bad your content will suffer.
