This is the best lab for teaching the genetics of blood type. You will need Micro-plates with 20 wells or small portion cups. Students mix food colors to simulate which blood types can be safely mixed . They have fun mixing "blood" and coloring their data charts. From their data they identify the universal donor and recipient. Then, they learn the genetics of multiple alleles. The symbols for A, B, and O alleles are introduced. Probability problems and Punnett Squares are included with the analysis. This is a great lab to follow Human Genetics Reading and Guided Notes.
