This reference is easy to use and informative for most students. Most teachers give students exhaustive lists of character traits that may be in alphabetical order or just randomly arranged on the page. This does not help students express what they know.
The character traits list I have created is a much better way for students to pin point character traits because it is arranged into categories as well as in order of word intensity.
This front and back document allows students to search for character traits based on different kinds of situations, like, happy, sad, nice, mean, does a lot, confident, does very little, nervous, under stress, with others, working style, etc.
Once students know what category they want to look in, they can find lists of synonyms that are arranged in order of intensity. For example, under the Category "NICE" there are a list of synonyms. They range in intensity from likable, to considerate to thoughtful to adoring. In this way students can begin to see how words are related as well as be more precise with their language when writing.
