Electron configuration is a classic example of a challenging chemical concept. Students have no real previous exposure or foundation in the idea, and the terms are new and confusing. Even the pattern in which it works doesn’t seem to make sense to students. “First you go to 1s, then you go to 2s, and then 2p?! What?! Where did P come from?”
Help the students understand the pattern of how electrons are placed into an atom's energy levels. These worksheets are designed to give kids an insight into the patterns of how electrons are assigned inside the atom. The worksheets come in color coded and non-color coded options, and also have options to fit two to a sheet. Two different formats are also given, depending on how you want to present the knowledge to the students. They even get a chance to model electron spins!
