Best First Lines of Children’s Books! Bulletin Board and More!
Whether you are celebrating a love of reading and wanting to expose kids to great first lines of familiar books, then this is the product for you! There are 44 first lines of books you know the kids will know or at least they will know the books, although some may be new to them. This product can be a powerful tool in teaching leads during a writing lesson or as a display for kids to guess which opening lines go with which book. What a great way to analyze all the ways famous authors started their work. It will no doubt spur great discussion and possibly lead to imitation of your own students in their writing!
If you are a media specialist you may want to display a few each quarter or use them in a book talk. There are both chapter books and picture books in both volumes. If you are a literacy coach, reading specialist or staff development teacher, you may want to consider using this product school-wide throughout the year or during a reading month or Children’s Book Week!
