Whether the movie is an integral part of your curriculum or a lesson plan for your sub (so you can attend that important Common Core Seminar), our activity has you covered. It will push your students to think, and if they are like our students, they will never sit back and watch a movie passively again. They will interact with the movie, documenting key scenes and analyzing their effectiveness. When your students are finished, they should be able to make a sound argument, backed by evidence from the film, as to whether the movie deserves the coveted Best Screenplay Award.
This self-contained activity works for any film and is suitable for substitute teachers, homeschoolers, or any subject teacher who wants to enhance the educational value of movies.
It is one component of our Common Core Movie Unit
