Better Buy Project
Help your students become bargain shoppers with some project based learning! You will provide students with a set of given ratios to compare two prices for the same item (example: Store A: 2 for $3.00. Store B: 4 for $6.50). They create store names and what type of item they are comparing, based on their interests. Students then prove which store is the better deal by using ratio tables and a graph. Included in this activity are 15 different sets of ratios, which means that all projects will be different and unique. Let their math creativity shine!
This is a great culminating activity to use during your ratios unit, and it can easily be transferred to the real world. Let your growing mathematicians show some creativity and have some fun as they hunt for a good deal!
