Tired of boring drill and kill grammar exercises? Students can review the parts of sentences and sentence structures while writing fun and creative poetry. The examples and forms demonstrate how parts of sentences work together to create meaning. This program utilizes 16 different forms for students to mimic. It also has links to review material if students need more information. I use this at the beginning of class as an activator or it can be used as a weekly writing exercise. It also can be a great intro into a poetry unit. If students are struggling, you can pair them to work together. Usually, I write my own poem on the board as students are writing their own. Be sure to leave time for students to share their work! Students learn basic writing skills while having a little fun!
