A student-friendly character trait resource page that will encourage real analysis
We often talk about character traits when studying a literary work, but students tend to focus on the same few - brave, determined, and kind all get a lot of use. I would give students lists of character traits to help them explore new ideas, but I found that they often were overwhelmed by the number of options and/or didn't know how to use many of the words on the lists.
I developed this resource sheet to help students think more deeply about the traits of characters they meet. The guiding questions help students think about different aspects of a character, and the lists of character traits are divided into sections to help students find the information they need more easily. They may need to look up the meanings of some of the words, so this is a great way to build vocabulary as well.
This is a resource that can be used throughout the year with any text!
