Are you looking for materials to do something different with the set of 40 Dolch words for 3rd Graders? This is it! If you have students in older grade levels this packet of materials would work for them as well. I purposely did not put the grade level identification on this set of materials so that struggling readers in older grade levels could use it as well as 3rd graders. In fact, I created this to use with a 4th grader who needs reading support. It is a group of seven pages plus one word list for students to learn and support the Dolch words and create simple, compound, and complex sentences with the words they select from the list of 40 words. One activity uses compare and contrast of words from the list and asks students to give three comparisons and three contrasts. (This could be used for multiple activities since students choose their own words.) It also has three pages that ask students to identify the nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, and prepositions from the list and to explain the function of each part of speech. One page asks students to create a simple sentence using quotation marks from the list. You'll find all of the pages use the upper levels of Bloom's taxonomy for all questions presented.
