Hey Teacher Peeps!!
Why have your students write summaries about their reading on the same ol' boring paper. Provide a great way to get your students to show their understanding of their reading on this fun Star Wars themed paper!!

Common Core Standards for Grades 6-8 are included, along with spaces for the student's Book Level, Book Title, ZPD (Zone of Proximal Development), and a handy-dandy Parent Signature line!

There are 2 types of Reading Logs enclosed; one with a summary aspect and the other with an illustration aspect.

The Bi-Weekly Reading Logs are set up for 2-hours worth of reading. Reading sessions can be split however the student would like. Book information is required by the student to fill in. Complete sentences are encouraged to be used in answering the questions and encouragement of learning new terms in the reading is also included.

After students answer the questions, one of the Reading Logs has a summary component requiring textual evidence of claims written in the student’s summary itself. The other Reading Log has 6 sections; Exposition, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, Denouement, and Prediction. The student will need to provide a small explanation of their reading in correspondence to each of the sections. After writing an explanation, the student is to then provide an illustration that depicts it’s explanation.

Those Jedi that want to write more for either Reading Log, can just use an extra sheet of paper :)

Look for these Reading Logs in Award Winners and multi-cultural Comic Book themes too!!

Thanks for your interest and Good Luck with your class of Jedi!
