This "Bible Verse of the Day" middle school ELA bellringer resource is a FULL YEAR of Bible verse warm-ups for your middle school classroom - perfect for a Christian school or homeschooler! Motivate your student(s) to live for Jesus all year long with an inspirational Bible passage each day, plus a total of 540 skill-based questions covering the following reading skills and strategies:
- Reading comprehension
- Words in context
- Figurative language
- Cause and effect
- Author's purpose
- Word choice
- Character traits
You can use this product in a variety of ways. Post a verse a day and discuss the questions as a class; post the daily scripture on an interactive whiteboard and let students write answers and receive feedback; let students complete the daily verse on that week's worksheet and discuss answers on the PowerPoint slide; collect the worksheet for a classwork grade at the end of the week; or do several verses at a time to practice a specific skill.
You can even choose verses based on the book of the Bible, topic, or skill. Choose Bible verses relevant to events going in your school or home, or when you cover a topic like figurative language, use verses that reinforce those skills. For those who find they like to jump around (like me) I've included a handy monthly Bible verse checklist so you can keep track of which warm-ups you've done.
This file contains everything you need for a year of learning and inspiration:
- 180 Bible verse slides, containing three skill-based questions each
- 36 weekly worksheets containing five verses each, plus the questions for students to answer on their own
- Table of contents for each "month" of 20 verse slides, containing each verse's topic and skills covered
- Bible verse checklist, organized by month, also including topics and skills
*Month 3 contains verses at the end specific to Thanksgiving.
*Month 4 contains verses specific to Christmas.
*Month 7 contains verses specific to the Easter season.
Much prayer went into the choosing of verses and writing of questions. I hope you and your students are as inspired by these Bible verse bellringers as I have been in creating them!
**All Bible passages are taken from the World English Bible, which is in the public domain.
