Product Description
Created on behalf of students unfamiliar with Christian and / or archaic terms after speaking with a student who could not identify Satan as a term for devil--surprisingly a large number of my former urban 10th and 11th grade students.

49 Biblical and / or archaic Christian terms, 5 sample archaic sentences, 17 common archaic words, and pronoun cases of archaic you in Word 2007.

List derived from Nathaniel Hawthorne's work, esp. The Scarlet Letter, over a few weeks.

Useful for historical, cultural, and thematic discussions. Culture as defined by the words people use would be an interesting discussion, whether defining the language once familiar to Hawthorne's time or whether discussing what has fallen out of usage, replaced these words, and the possible significance.

This is really a wonderful resource for launching a word study and / or thematic project. A potential project might involve identifying words / phrases common to a culture or common to the description of a book character, for later analysis.
