I am an Integrated Language Arts Teacher in a Catholic Middle School. My students give one formal presentation each month. This particular assignment is focused on a verse that they like and have chosen. It is perfect for the ILA classroom and the Religion classroom.
For this activity, students choose a verse that they really like. They must be able to apply the verse to their own life and society today. They'll give the background on the verse…where it was found in the Bible and in what context. They will come up with a creative project that incorporates the verse. Example- tee shirt, painting, mug, poster, song, skit, comic book.
So they are using their God-given gifts and talents in conjunction with the chosen verse. You can do this as an in-class project, and put the students in groups, or have them do it at home.
This project comes with:
-Student Information Printable
-Bible Reference Sheets (Printable- For Students)
-2 project samples (painting, tee shirt)
I hope you have as much success with this as I do! I am always amazed with the creativity the students have! The projects they complete are always wonderful! You can display them, and have an array of fantastic work. It's definitely differentiated learning. You can also invite other grades to come in and look at the work. We set it up as a museum of sorts. The students stand by their work and explain it.
