This remedial packet is for students who need a lot of practice to master a skill. Helping middle school students develop strong algebraic skills is key to their success in high school. My own students had weak numeracy skills, so in addition to practicing their algebraic skills they were also building their fluency with numbers.

**Ask students to sign their name next to each page after they complete it - it gives them a sense of accomplishment and it helps you track their progress just by looking at the cover.**
Last year my 8th graders started off the year only able to solve equations using basic mental math....equations like: 5 + x = 16. To catch them up, I created this Big O'l Algebra Packet. After introducing the students to the idea of inverse operations and showing them a few examples, they were able to fly through this packet whenever they had extra time in class or at home. Even though we started off the year studying scientific notation and the properties of exponents, by the time we got to the algebra unit, my students were ready to go.
