Hello all you Busy Bees!
Looking for a behavior chart for your classroom?
There are a TON of behavior systems and beliefs, but if you are looking for a clear, consistent system and parent explanation sheets, check this out!
The way it works in my class:
I put together the chart based on the behavior guide - Red on the bottom to purple at the top.
Each child has a clothespin with their name on it.
Each day, students begin the day on Green.
Throughout the day, students move their clip up (or down) based on behavior.
**Students work on a 3 strikes and you're out routine, allowing for redirection and better choices.
**Even if a student moves their clip down, they can move their clip back up for good behavior! This is important for their understanding that one mistakes does not ruin their day.
The ending color gets marked on their weekly/monthly homework calendar.
On Friday, students earning 4+ green, blue or purple days are invited to Lunch Bunch in the classroom.
How you use this in your classroom, depends on works best for you. My advice after 10 years with a clip system is to make sure that you use this consistently, without shaming or humiliating students, and in a way that focuses on ways to make better choices. Discuss at length and focus on ways students can move clips up and help each other.
