I created these cards to support students' independent reading and critical thinking skills. There are three cards for fiction books and three cards for nonfiction books. Each card has 9 questions at a different level of difficulty. As the complexity of questions increases, so do the point values. Questions are designed to work with any fiction or nonfiction book. To create this resource I drew upon Bloom's Taxonomy as well as Erickson's and Costa's models of questioning. All questions are included in both English (blue text) and Spanish (red text). I laminate the cards and place them inside student's book baggies to take home, but they can also be used as a literacy center!
