This lesson was created for upper elementary, middle school, or early high school students and is a great way to introduce or re-teach astronomy, gravity, lunar phases, and the Moon. This is an extremely popular lesson in my classroom! Students love the rare opportunity to enjoy a video, but the challenge is keeping them engaged. That challenge is met with the attached comic style activity. Students need to stay engaged in the video to determine the correct answers and graphic representations cue students when answers might be coming. Package include 4 page student worksheet aligned with Bill Nye the Science Guy Moon (episode #11), and 4 page teacher key with an additional class activity to reinforce gravitational differences between the Earth and Moon. Full teacher key with all answers included. Deeper thinking questions and a fun additional activity add more rigor to the lesson. Graphic format and practice differentiate for different learning styles. This activity packet will be a great resource for any curriculum that teaches astronomy, the Moon, gravity, or Lunar Phases. This activity would work well with a sub if desired. Approximately one to two class periods in length. As a point of reference I teach a 50 minute class. Created by Mister Science.
