This resource provides students with an introduction to the Bill of Rights through a PowerPoint and a scaffolded notes handout. Students will learn about what an amendment is, who wrote the Bill of Rights, why they were included the Constitution, what the 10 amendments are, and how they protect the rights of citizens.
This resource is aligned to, but not limited to, the following state standard:
SS4H5 The student will analyze the challenges faced by the new nation.
d. Identify and explain the rights in the Bill of Rights, describe how the Bill of Rights places limits on the power of government, and explain the reasons for its inclusion in the Constitution in 1791.
