Product Description
This webquest will bring the Bill of Rights to life for your students, particularly as it relates to the 1st amendment! They will consider the conflicts and controversies present in interpreting the Bill of Rights today and will read, research, and discuss important modern day issues. This product includes preliminary discussion questions regarding the 1st amendment, multiple links to guide student research, and a current events section that will bring the Bill of Rights to life. Topics highlighted in the activity include: limits on free speech, flag burning, abortion clinic buffer zones, and the issue of conflicting liberties. Students will also have the opportunity to choose a current event regarding the Bill of Rights that is interesting to them. This webquest leads to great discussion and is a way to make this topic relevant for your students. Also included is a list of webquest discussion questions to build upon the assignment and a directions page for successful implementation in your classroom.
