First, students read important definitions provided for them on a handout and they paraphrase what they mean.Then, students complete a graphic organizer by using Ben's Guide to how a bill becomes a law from the government printing office website. The site is conveniently posted at the top of the sheet.
After the student learn about the bill to law process, as a final step they write a narrative in first person as if the are a bill moving through congress.
