Want to give your high school Government students an engaging, hands-on activity that will spark a lively classroom discussion? Look no farther! This zip file includes my original bill mark-up activity and a list of nineteen fictional laws (geared towards teenage interests). The teacher cuts the proposed laws into strips and allows each student to draw one. Then, the students take on the role of either a Senator or Representative, "go to their chambers," and mark-up the bill through answering a series of nine questions. Last, each member of the class presents their bill as Senator or Representive "so and so", and tries to get classmates to pass their bill. Extra credit to the most creativity/best mark-ups! View my preview for a glimpse of the activity.
